I have extensive experience with Solaris, IRIX, All of the BSD distributions and Linux. as long as I can get a network login I can manage your machine. below is a list of services I can provide remotely.     I have extensive experience with most Open Source Software on a wide variety of platforms and can even get most modern open source software running easily even on obsolete platforms.

    A good example would be a postfix,proftpd and courier-imap Installation I did on a customer's Mac OS X 10.2 server. I obtained a copy of OS X 10.2 and the development tools and built them a nice mail/ftp server solution that utilized everything they already had in house and gave them all the capabilities they were looking for, without having to perform a costly upgrade that might severely impact production or spending lots more money on hosting and trusting sensitive data to some outside firm.

    As a general rule as long as there is documentation I am capable of installing/configuring and maintaining anything you wish as well as providing advice on and implementation of Open Source software solutions to common(and uncommon) problems.

  • Custom compiled kernels that maximize performance and resource usage
    this is very useful on older slower machines that are low on resources but still need to be used I have experience making custom kernels for NetBSD, OpenBSD, FreeBSD and Linux.

    Even on modern machines some Linux distributions only ship with generic kernels that may not be compiled to take full advantage of hardware specific CPU optimizations and the like. So the system might boot and function properly but not perform as well as you hoped. I may be able to help you in this case with a custom compiled Linux or BSD kernel.

  • Dynamic kernel tuning
    I have some experience in basic kernel tuning this can be done on any UNIX system that supports modifying kernel parameters at run time (all modern UNIX implementations) If your system is not performing the way you think it should I may well be able to help you.
